St Andrew's Catholic School in Leatherhead is a large secondary school and sixth form college. They use FrogLearn as their Learning Management System and website.
School activity
Clare Uttley, Assistant Headteacher and Stam Kostas, IT Technician recently took on the task of redesigning their Frog platform, something which Frog has been assisting them with. This activity inspired a new idea for pupil personalisation…
The Challenge
St Andrews use ‘Houses’ to help foster a strong student identity and bonding across year groups. They were hoping to reflect that sense of belonging when pupils logged into the Frog platform. It was hoped that it would be possible for each student dashboard to appear in their particular house colours.
The Solution
Keen to find a solution that wouldn’t create maintenance work for the school, we pinpointed the HTML Widget as the correct tool for the job.
Using this, they would be able to set the appearance of a single student dashboard, based on their house.
To make it work they just needed to check the pupil’s house and then set a code to pick up the corresponding house colour and an instruction to change the background and banner to match it.
The Impact
Now pupils can feel truly immersed in their ‘House’.
If you’d like to try a similar personalised approach you can find the code instruction on the Frog Community Forum...
