Using Frog to communicate
As a member of ‘Sing Up’ (a not-for-profit organisation that provides musical packages for schools), the integration of music is fundamental for North Lakes School in Cumbria. Struggling with an aging digital signage system, the school could no longer play and share videos of their performances.
Martyn Soulsby, Leadership Team & DPO explains: “The user interface was old, and no-one really knew how to use it”. The problem was that a replacement digital signage system would be costly as Martyn adds: “The cheapest [digital signage system] we found was £2,000 with an annual fee. That’s when we heard about the FrogCode widget.”
About the FrogCode Digital Signage Widget
The widget will pick from preferred sites within Frog, along with pre-specified timings for the website slideshow, ready to be set as ‘Public on the Web’. The site will then point a computer browser or digital signage software to display the slideshow.
Getting it just right
Videos with music were initially an issue for North Lakes as internet browsers block that kind of content. Martyn reached out to Frog for assistance and a solution was soon found to overcome this issue. The school use a Chrome browser for the digital signage and it is now possible to overwrite the auto-play block using the available settings - learn more.
North Lakes school were proud to have the signage in place for their Ofsted visit and received feedback about the warm welcome their inspectors received when they entered the reception area.
Martyn concludes: “It’s such a money and time saver and as it’s in Frog we can share it with anyone. Teachers can display it on their class whiteboards and it gives us the option to showcase our activities on screens around the school.”
